Halloween Decorations

 TRICK OR TREAT!

(Oct. 2017 Note - I apologize for any broken links in this post. Bloggers come and go over the years, and, sadly, sometimes so do their links!)

Because most of our home is off-limits during our remodel, my craft room has become Halloween Central at our house this fall.

Last year I had a blast making Halloween decorations inspired by my blog buddies and Pinterest. My Boo blocks were inspired by The Crafting Chicks tutorial.

The framed Trick or Treat artwork is from a free download created by Karen at The Graphics Fairy.

This cute witch's broom parking sign is a free download from Kristy at The Diary of Dave's Wife, and my black witch's hat (my favorite Halloween decoration) was inspired by Sherry's gorgeous witch's hat at The Charm of Home.

.

I added some creepy bottles to my decorations this year. These Halloween labels can be found on Pinterest here,

here, and  here.

My Halloween banner is from Jenny's free download at Allsorts

The adorable vintage art for my Halloween Tag Collection comes from my old Broderbund Holidays and Celebrations CD.

I'm so excited about decorating my little craft room for Halloween that I wanted to share something with you, too.

Just click on each photo below and when it opens in a new window, right click and save it to your computer. Each vintage tag measures 2.5" x 4".

I love creating holiday tags using vintage art.
I just print the pictures out on cardstock and glue them onto stiff mat-board. Next, I add some chunky glitter here and there and tie it with a ribbon. I store my tags in ziplock bags with our other holiday decorations. They're fun and easy to make, and they make me smile every year when I unpack them!

Rustic Easter Fantel

Hi, everyone! I hope your week is off to a good start!

Yesterday, I decorated my fantel for Easter by bringing together some things I had around the house and some Easter decorations I made last year.

You might remember these decoupage eggs from last year.

 And my little bunny tray.

This bunny bunting was my new Easter project for this year.  I made it yesterday.

The Beatrix Potter illustrations are from the pages of this 60 cent thrift store book. I was so happy when I found it a few weeks ago. I copied and printed my favorite bunnies on white card stock, mounted them on script card stock, then glittered them with German glass glitter around the edges and hung them from twine.

The back of this book says that Frederick Warne & Co. is the owner of all rights, copyrights and trademarks in the Beatrix Potter character names and illustrations. The illustrations used for my bunting are for my personal use only.

Illustrations by Beatrix Potter

I don't think there are more charming bunnies to be seen at Easter time than Peter Rabbit and his friends. They remind me of happy times reading to my daughters when they were little girls snuggled in my lap.

You'll find tutorials for the decoupage book page eggs and bunny tray, along with other Easter projects from last year, by clicking on the photo of the Easter tags on my sidebar.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

I hope the rest of your week is just fabulous!

Saint Patrick's Day Decor

I'm an Irish girl, through and through, and Saint Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays.

I've been proudly wearing these pins on Saint Patrick's Day for years and years.
Occasionally, I've even been kissed!

It's a tradition at our house to have the entire family gather together for a dinner of corned beef and cabbage followed by a dessert of green frosted cupcakes or cookies.

This is the first year I've decorated the house for Saint Patrick's Day. I bought the little pillow, beads, and gold coins at Jo-Ann's Craft Store for half-off. The "biscuit barrel" (which is what a cookie jar is called in Ireland) is Irish Waterford chrystal, a treasured gift from my sister in law.  And the stems reminded me of heather plucked from the Irish moors.

The mischievous grin of this cute little leprechaun caught my eye as I was standing in the checkout line at Hobby Lobby. He gave me a wink, and before I could say, "Blarney!" he magically found his way into my cart!

The sixteen inch tall thrift store cupboard sitting on my craft table was painted with homemade chalkpaint and decoupaged with my initials and a design from The Graphics Fairy

I found this pretty little faux clover heart at Michaels Craft Store. I shop early for the best selection during holidays and only buy craft store decorations when they're at least half off. This one was less than $5.00, and is so versatile I think it was worth every penny.

Hanging from my little cupboard, it's the perfect place to display my Irish pins until Saint Patrick's day on on March 17

I hope I get a kiss this year!

Have a Happy Saint Patrick's Day on Sunday.

(And don't forget to wear green!)

Spring Fantel

Thank you for all your kind encouragement as I took the exciting plunge into the world of Apple. It took two whole days to migrate my files over to my new MacBook, but here I am.

 I made it!

At the same time I was learning how to use my new laptop, I was finishing up moving into my new craft room. It's been so much work! But, honestly, how lucky am I to have two new creative spaces?!

The luckiest person ever!

I'm so relieved to have my "stuff" all around me again. I still have tons of decorating of my new room to do, like picking out a rug, making new curtains, and arranging and rearranging everything just so. But I just couldn't wait to show you my favorite part of my new space.

I've always envied the beautiful fireplace mantels I've seen on other blogs, decorated for all the different seasons and holidays. My house doesn't have a fireplace, though. (I know, how sad is that?) But now I have a shelf in my new craft room that will be my fake mantel. My fantel

And (drumroll please) I already have it decorated for spring. I know, I know, it's the ONLY sign of spring in Idaho right now, but I just couldn't wait!

 I love my fantel

It was hard to keep it simple for my first try at styling and photographing this little four foot long shelf. I wanted to pile every remotely springy item in the house on it.

What do you think? Did I do okay for a fantel newbie?

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, and I hope you'll visit again to see my

 Saint Patrick's Day Fantel.

And my Easter Fantel.

And my Mother's Day Fantel.

And...

well, you get the idea.

I love my fantel!
