It's time for another kitchen remodel update!
The first day of demolition I stayed behind the plastic barrier on our side of the house and didn't go to look at the kitchen and dining room again until the carpenters were gone for the evening.

I
thought I was prepared for the demolition stage but, honestly, I almost
started crying when I saw my house looking like this. I started
questioning whether my vision for our remodel had been a huge mistake!

After looking into the holes in the walls where the
stubborn back splash tile had torn off the plaster clear down to the
lathe, I just took a very deep breath, reminded myself that the darkest
hour is always just before the dawn, and closed the door behind me.

And
sure enough, the following evening when I entered the construction zone
after another day of demolition, I was greeted with the open airy
light-filled spaces I'd been seeing in my imagination.

And I love it!
Oh...yes...it's going to be great. But I can see why you were upset. I would be too.
ReplyDeleteWow...looks like an incredible space!! Can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteOh I understand that feeling of "oh what have I done!"...it will look so great though! You can see it's a great space already!
ReplyDeleteStay strong, Laurel ~ I just know it will be beautiful in the end!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting! I can see you've had a pretty white kitchen, and I wonder what made you decide to remodel it. Well, I'll wait for the progress of your project. I'm sure this will turn from a pretty to a fabulous space. Keep me updated! :)

Things look as if they are moving along. I can notice a big difference with light. I know from experience in our old house it is overwhelming. Hang in there!!

It's going to be worth it! Kind of like getting your hair highlighted. I feel so ugly with my hair in foil sticking up all over the place (and of course there's a mirror right there), but I feel pretty by the time I leave!
ReplyDeleteLaurel,
ReplyDeleteYou have the right attitude for a remodel so continue to keep your thoughts on the final outcome. I'm so excited for you!!!
What an exciting journey! I admit, it's easier when you're not the one without the kitchen in the meantime, but it will be fantastic!! I'm looking forward to the next instalment of photos!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you! But wow, I can certainly see how you were having some misgivings-the project looks like it is humming along nicely and will be completed and beautiful for the Holidays!!
ReplyDeleteIt always looks kind of scary before it gets beautiful! Take a deep breath and have faith in your decisions! I know it will be awesome!
ReplyDeletewow! what a difference a couple of days make Laurel! Wishing you all the best, hope it's over very quickly! I can't wait to see your new space!
