Craft Room Storage

Last fall I packed up all my craft room supplies in preparation for a move into a new house across town, and then we decided to stay here in our beloved old North End cottage. Since everything was packed up anyway, I decided to move my craft room downstairs and give my creaky old knees a break.

I spent a lot of time planning the layout and storage for all my furniture and supplies, since the new craft room is only about 10' x 11' with a small closet. It was like putting a jigsaw puzzle together.

I wanted cabinets lightweight enough to move myself, but strong enough to hold gallons of paint and other heavy supplies. The finish had to be easy to clean and impervious to chemicals, and it had to have lockable doors and be able to be bolted to the wall. [Essential safety features for my future (someday) grandchildren.]

After trying many solutions and finally giving up my dream of antique armoirs painted duck egg blue, I ordered two new steel cabinets that are each six feet tall, three feet wide and eighteen inches deep.

My idea of a good time is having this many shelves to organize. It was so much fun unpacking my craft supplies and putting them away.

 Everything fit perfectly.

And if I need more storage, I can add baskets or boxes above the cabinets.

I made some magnetic faux French enameled numbers following this Confessions of a Plate Addict tutorial to add a bit of interest to the doors.

I'd love to hear your ideas for decorating the fronts of my cabinets

Thanks so much for stopping in today. Next time I'll be sharing my craft closet.

(omg, there's more?!)

Hope you have a great week!

Free Vintage Easter Tag Download

Last Easter I shared some vintage Easter tags as a free download.

As I was making more tags for myself today, it occurred to me that my new readers
might like some, too.

So here they are!

Just click the link below to go to last year's post and the instructions for downloading.

Click here for free printable high resolution vintage Easter tags.

Aren't they cute? You can also see how I used
my tags for decorations last year on that post.

This year, I glittered the edges of my tags with some new chunky German glass glitter that I'm in love with. You may think tags are only good for gift tags, but they're so much more! Here are a few ways I'm using mine this year.

Rustic Easter Fantel

Hi, everyone! I hope your week is off to a good start!

Yesterday, I decorated my fantel for Easter by bringing together some things I had around the house and some Easter decorations I made last year.

You might remember these decoupage eggs from last year.

 And my little bunny tray.

This bunny bunting was my new Easter project for this year.  I made it yesterday.

The Beatrix Potter illustrations are from the pages of this 60 cent thrift store book. I was so happy when I found it a few weeks ago. I copied and printed my favorite bunnies on white card stock, mounted them on script card stock, then glittered them with German glass glitter around the edges and hung them from twine.

The back of this book says that Frederick Warne & Co. is the owner of all rights, copyrights and trademarks in the Beatrix Potter character names and illustrations. The illustrations used for my bunting are for my personal use only.

I don't think there are more charming bunnies to be seen at Easter time than Peter Rabbit and his friends. They remind me of happy times reading to my daughters when they were little girls snuggled in my lap.

You'll find tutorials for the decoupage book page eggs and bunny tray, along with other Easter projects from last year, by clicking on the photo of the Easter tags on my sidebar.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

I hope the rest of your week is just fabulous!
