Decorating with Throw Pillows

I'm a pillow junky. Throw pillows, that is. I love them piled up on a bed or sofa with lots of mixed and matched textures, colors and patterns.

The best advice I've found about mixing and matching colors and patterns can be found on the Simcoe Street Blog. Basically, Jenny says that when mixing and matching fabrics, the colors should relate to each other while both the scale of the print and the design of each print changes.

Notice the addition of texture on the flowered pillow in the second picture.

Of course, rules are made to be broken sometimes, but these pictures really helped me understand how to mix fabrics while still having them relate to each other. Check out Simcoe Street for more great examples.
